Isn't it always the way, you get all geared up to make a big start on something and then your body decides it's gonna throw you a curveball. The following post is about "woman's issues" so if it's too much information, then you might want to skip this one.
Yesterday I had a fab workout day, got my cardio in in the morning and yoga at lunchtime by the time evening came, I was having stomach cramps and hot flushes...eeek!! Considered not doing my evening weights workout, but thought better of it considering it was my first day back into serious training, so I dragged me and my pre-menstrual self to the gym and ended up having a great workout!
But this morning, ew... I feel like a wounded buffalo - sore boobs, sore stomach, and an extra 1.3kg to haul around the gym.
It happens ladies, it's always good to be aware of our 'cycles' - in the past I would have freaked out and thought that I'd done something wrong with my diet the previous day, but because I know exactly where I'm at in the cycle I know its just poxy old fluid retention. I take Ketoprofen 5 days before and without fail overnight I put on at least 1kg as this medication has been reported to increase fluid retention.
But I'm a sucker for punishment and I won't be missing any workouts today! I will certainly be drinking loads of water and watching my sodium intake to minimise the evil fluid retention monster.
